A Concise History :

April, 1993 :

Rev. Joseph Tien and a few co-workers felt the call to plant a church in the East Bay with a vision for God's heart today—the prophet Joel said that God would pour out His Spirit on all mankind in these last days. This ministry emphasizes the Word of God, as well as the power of the Holy Spirit. They specifically chose the name, “Great Commission Christian Church" we are called to preach the Good News to every nation, not only in the Bay Area.

Fall 1997 :

A mission project was begun to reach out to the Mandarin-speaking population in Albany and its surrounding cities.

January 2001 :

GCCC joined the Ling-Leung World- wide Evangelistic Mission association of churches. This mission was founded by the late Evangelist Rev. Shih-kung Chao in Shanghai, China more than 50 years ago. Today, this mission has grown into an association of churches found anywhere from the Silicon Valley of California to Taiwan, and even Togo, Africa.
